Entre Mundos ( Between Worlds)

Entre Mundos is both a celebration of Mexican folklore and an exploration of my own subconscious mind and dream worlds. Growing up in Mexico, I was surrounded by fantastical and colorful traditions that taught and warned about worlds beyond ordinary perception. These motifs and stories have stayed with me, becoming part of my internal visual dialogue, often resurfacing in dreams or moments of deep thought and meditation.

Alebrijes, a form of Mexican folk art, are considered dream guides and often appear during Day of the Dead celebrations, placed on altars or in homes as vibrant decorations. Entre Mundos investigates realms that extend beyond perception, at the intersection of life, afterlife, and dream. I imagine this intersection as a state of fluidity, where we ourselves become Alebrijes, traveling between worlds and soaring through dreamscapes.

The installation features numerous Alebrije figures suspended from the ceiling, flying across a twilight-like landscape that feels at once deserted and inhabited. Skull figures gather with xoloitzcuintle dogs around a bonfires in celebration, representing the shadow realm of the living, rejoicing even in death.
